1929 Great Lakes 2T-1 Sport Trainer Biplane N202K - Price Pending

Own A Piece of Aviation History

This fully restored 1929 Great Lakes 2T-1A Aerobatic Sport Trainer Biplane is widely associated with Betty Skelton, the famous aerobatic champion known as the "First Lady of Firsts." Betty purchased the 2T-1A in 1946 and named it "Little Stinker." She flew it to the International Female Aerobatic Championships in 1948 and launched her professional aerobatic career in that aircraft. The aircraft currently carries a Warner  Super Scarab 165 hp radial engine, rather than the original Cirrus engine installed when it was built. The FAA airworthiness date on record is April 10, 1963, which reflects certification history and modifications—not the original construction date. The "1948" date often seen in photo databases for N202K refers to its association with Betty Skelton and airshow activities during that period, not its manufacture year. The Smithsonian identifies Skelton's Great Lakes as a 1929 model that she was flying by 1946–1948.
